Before your appointment

  1. No food three hours prior to your appointment, but clear liquids, in a small amount is ok. 
  2. Bring or wear regular underwear, no thongs or girdles.
  3. Bring a pair of socks and wear something comfortable. 
  4. Bring a valid government I.D. with both your picture and date of birth on it. 
  5. Please bring only one person with you to take you home if you are taking any medication. 
  6. Payments are accepted with, Cash, ATM/Debit or Credit Cards only, NO Checks. 
  7. Protestors will be here. They are not allowed on our property, they have to stand on the sidewalk. Please try and ignore them and enter our facility. 
  8. Please be on time and expect to be here at least 3 hours, maybe more or less.

Surgical Abortion

A Woman's World Medical Center is the only facility of its kind in the five county area surrounding Ft. Pierce. The clinic was founded in 1991 by Candace Dye, a lifetime resident of St. Lucie County. A Woman's World provides a wide range of family planning, gynecology and abortion services. Candace Dye has been involved in abortion services since 1988 and plans to continue caring for the women of the Treasure Coast for years to come.
Abortion services are available from 5-17 weeks from the first day of the last normal menstrual period. Vacuum aspiration is the safest surgical procedure to terminate a pregnancy. The procedure is performed by an OBGYN who has performed abortions for over 33 years and who has worked with Candace for 20 years.  This procedure ends an early pregnancy by gently suctioning the lining of the uterus and removing the products of conception.

       A Private Abortion can be arranged.  This means it would only be the patient, the doctor, a nurse and recovery nurse at the office and no scheduled patients.  Please call for pricing.    

Post-Operative Care

Now that you have had your abortion, there are a few things we need to tell you...

  1. Please use regular size maxi pads only. Regular tampons can give you an infection. 
  2. USE PADS FOR TWO WEEKS. Start your antibiotics today after you have eaten. Get plenty of rest for the next couple of days, and drink plenty of water. Check your temperature for the next couple of days, it may run as high as 100.4 The bleeding you'll have after an abortion varies. You may not bleed at all for the first few days then start cramping and bleeding. Any kind of bleeding is normal as long as you don't bleed heavier than two pads in one hour. Also it may take your body up to 3 months for you to get a regular period. 
  3. You may or may not pass clots, some may be as big as a fifty cent piece. If clots are bigger than that call us, 772-460-1506.

DON'T DO THE FOLLOWING FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS...

  • Do Not Pick up anything over ten pounds  

  • No Tub baths, Showers are fine

  • No Tampons, regular pads only

  • No SEX

  • No Swimming 

  • No Strenuous Exercise or Activity

  • No Douching

The Abortion Pill (RU486)

The Abortion pill is available from 5-8 weeks from the first day of your last normal menstrual cycle. It is a two-step process that involves a visit to the clinic for an ultrasound, lab work, paperwork, counseling and taking the actual Abortion pill (which stops the pregnancy from growing.) We send you home with the remaining medications and detailed instructions on when and what to do with them. 48 hours after taking the Abortion pill at the clinic, in the privacy of your own home, you will insert 4 pills (called misoprostol) vaginally and lay down for15 minutes. They will dissolve in about 30-120 minutes. These pills will help your cervix to soften and the pregnancy tissue to pass. This is not pain free, there will be heavy bleeding and cramping for about 2-6 hours.  Within 10-14 days you will have a follow up appointment to repeat the pregnancy test and ultrasound. The follow up is included with the cost of the Abortion Pill.
